Kingston Jamaica. One of the busiest ports in the world for the ship ministry and one of the worst berths! Due to restrictions on berths in the main port, the ship always ends up at the coal berth of a cement company which is not only very dirty but has very little space and is located a number of miles outside of town.

Despite this, the people of Kingston always come to the ship in large numbers and we have already seen that during our first few days here. We had over 15000 people come in just the first 3 days. On Friday night, we had to close the gate more than 1 hour early because the line was already too long and the last people didn't leave the ship until nearly 11pm. So we expect a busy time over the next 5 weeks here.
We had a fanastic break away with mum and dad last week. We spent nearly a week at a great resort on the beach near Ochos Rios and then for our last night got a free upgrade to a 5 star hotel. What a blessing. One of the highlights was to go to Dolphin Cove. We had asked a lot of our family to give money for the kids for their Christmas and birthdays and we treated them to swimming with dolphins. As they needed an adult to go with them, dad also swam.
They absolutely loved it ( who wouldn't ) and it was such a delight to see their joy. We are so privileged to have the opportunity to be in these amazing countries and do these things that would normally cost thousands of pounds. We managed to get a special Logos Hope discount for the dolphins because everyone in Jamaica knows the "bookship" and that we are volunteers.
This last week we booked our flights home. We leave the ship on 27th May - that is just 3 months!!
We are going to spend 2 weeks in Florida with Heather's parents and then be back in Edinburgh on 12th June.
On Tuesday, I am flying to the ships office in Florence South Carolina, to talk to some of the team there about a possible opportunity after we leave the ship. But don't panic - the job is in the UK, not the USA. Will let you know how it goes next week.
