Easter celebrations

For those of us on board Logos Hope, Easter has been a special weekend as we have taken the time to relax, reflect on what Easter is all about and enjoy some fun together. Like many in the UK it has also been very cold with quite a bit of snow.
Last week the kids got roller blades from that wonderful German institution - Aldi - on special offer. They both seemed to pick it up really quickly and within a few days were whizzing around on the quayside.

Friday was a quiet reflective day onboard, with a service first thing and then time taken to think about the crucifiction and what it means. Then on Saturday we had a lazy family day and picked up Mairi and Grace from Carrubbers who arrived for a week onboard as project workers. It continues to be an encourgement for us as different people come out from our church to work onboard and visit us.

Easter Sunday morning started off with a great brunch in the dining room with the galley and the bakery really pulling out the stops to provide fantastic food. Then we had a great family service onboard with lots of singing and dancing for the kids and a real celebration of the resurrection.

We got together with our ship family for a light lunch and lots of chocolate.

Sunday was a beautiful sunny day, though very cold. The kids followed Scottish tradition and rolled their eggs down the hill across the road and then we had a brisk walk along the sea front.

A number of people from the ship were out on the quayside making contact with the local community, playing life music, doing drama and inviting people onboard for tours.

Monday, I went out with my Corporate Services division to have Brunch at Alex's, our favourite local cafe. Monday saw lots of snow showers through the day and last night a number of us had a snowball fight across the outside decks. We also held a fun night onboard with a number of individuals and departments putting on skits and doing their best to make everyone laugh.

Heather spent a lot of the weekend writing an essay for the latest module in her degree course.
Today it was back to work and school for us all. The flooring arrived to go on the visitor experience deck and I spent most of the day in meetings about the direction of our IT department.
As I write, it is snowing again outside. Amazingly, the past few days have been the first time that we have actually seen snow lying in Kiel all winter. Hopefully it will start to warm up soon.
