Myself, Heather and Kara have all struggled with it this week but thankfully Kara recovered quickly, mine started bad last weekend and has just dragged on all week but is a bit better today. Heather has felt rough all week but had a really bad night last night and was in bed all day today. Oh for warm sunshine and fresh air to get rid of all these bugs.
Anyway, back to the work for the survey, Friday I was back down the engine room along with many others, trying to clean and tidy up around all those busy putting together engines and pumps, welding, cutting, fixing and getting the place ship shape.
I was asked to put back up some sheet metal panels in the ceiling but before I could do that, I had to put back up some insulation - my favourite job!! Just to explain, throughout the whole ship everything is designed to minimise fire which means that every little bit of steel deck has fire resistant insulation fitted before the deckheads (ceiling panels) go up. So the section of ceiling in the engine room had some work done and the insulation was all removed so it had to be put back up and held in place with chickenwire.
Here are just some of the people that were in the engine room yesterday.
Today, Saturday, has been another very busy day with what seemed like half the ship working hard on deck 3 and in the engine room to do as much as we can to impress the surveyors.
Even Liam got involved in cleaning up in the Theatre.
By the end of the week we should know if we will get granted an interim certificate to sail out of Koge.
On Saturday we have 43 new recruits arriving onboard. They will be with us for 36 hours before heading off the the onshore venue for their Pre-ship Training (PST) It will be good to get another group of fresh faces onboard and particularly some help with the work.
We just hope they don't get sick too.
