Sorry for all those who have been on the blog the last few days and not seen a recent update. It has been a combination of being very busy and wanting some good news to write about.
Heather's parents have been here for the past week. They flew in on Weds 2nd on the very first Ryanair flight from Edinburgh to Bremen - we thought they might get treated on the inaugural flight but it wasn't even mentioned.
The kids were excited to have their grandparents here and have enjoyed showing off their roller blading skills. Actually, thanks to a special offer at Aldi, we all have a pair now although Heather and I are finding it a bit more challenging than Liam. Liam was also really chuffed to get a new lightsaber and had great battles with some of his friends at the weekend.
Last Friday night, I was the MC for the Open Ship event which we hold every week. This is an opportunity for local people to come onboard and hear about what we are doing and get a tour. We get an average of about 200 every week. Also last weekend we had a youth event on Friday night with over 200 youngsters - at the end, 12 went forward for prayer.
This past week it has been exciting to see progress made in a number of areas on the ship. The most visible change has been the laying of the floor in the book fair deck. It is very exciting to think that later this year, thousands of people will be walking across that deck as they visit the ship and buy books.
We have also started to prepare for the laying of the carpet and fitting of the furniture in the dining room. On Monday we will temporarily move from the dining room to the Logos Lounge at the back of the ship for about 3 weeks. It will be a bit more of a squash.
One other area of progress this past week has been the laying of the concrete floor in our staff lounge. We hope to be able to use that room for a 50th birthday party for the directors wife.
