Everyone is coming to Koge

It has certainly been a week with lots of visitors to Logos Hope. Not crowds of people coming to the book fair, but friends of the ship coming to give input into the community and the project.
My Tobago buddy John came to organise the layout of the book fair together with Huug who is based in the States doing all the buying. They did a great job putting all the shelve units and tables into place.

Then we had Dan and Suzie Potter here - they have an incredible ministry to teens all over the world and are the founders of Teen Street. They shared with the ships company and held a training programme for youth workers and ship people last night and today. Tonight they are MCing a programme to celebrate 50 years of OM with Danish partners and supporters.

Heather and I were asked to host a table and got to meet a very nice Danish couple who have both been on Doulos before and have kids a similar age to ours. So we enjoyed spending time with them and look forward to meeting up with them again in a couple of weeks.

Our other special guest has been George Verwer, founder of OM, who is also here to encourage the ships company and to take part in tonights programme.

We have had visitors to our cabin this week as some of the carpenters have been in putting in our new kitchen.

Tomorrow(Monday) we are looking forward to a trip to Legoland as the ship has been given a gift by OM in the UK to have an outing. So we are hoping for a fantastic day - we'll have the pictures in the next blog.

Ok, off to watch some Olympics now.

Logos Hope opens to Danish public

This weekend we have opened up the ship to the public for the first time here in Denmark.

After a month of intense focus on practical work and then our period of Sab*bath rest, it was time to let the local Danes come onboard and see what this ship is all about. Over the past weeks, many locals have come down to the harbour and had a look at the ship and enquired about it.

Children welcomed with balloons

Everyone coming onboard is offered a tour of the ship and given the opportunity to ask questions and hear about why we are here and the purpose for the ship.

Our newly fitted bookshelves have got books in them for the first time. Although it will be a few more weeks before the whole bookstall is finished being kitted out, it is already being put to good use.

Next weekend we have several larger events onboard including a 50th anniversary celebration of OM with George Verwer, the founder of the organisation.

This week we had to say goodbye to a couple who have been our next door neighbours and members of our ships family - John and Jo. They joined down in Trogir around the same time as us so it is hard to say goodbye to the first people who have shared the whole experience with us so far. That is part of ships life. You are always saying goodbye to people and welcoming new people.
