This past week has been a bit of a slow one. Up to the weekend, the most exciting thing was watching Great Britains medal tally climb each day at the Olympics. It was great to see how well Team GB performed - holding onto 3rd position in the medals right up til Saturday. I suppose it is not good to gloat but it has felt good winding up the Aussies onboard about beating them in the medals. Oh and a load more carpet was laid around the ship.
Friday, Steve spent 2 hours in the dentist chair getting work done on his front teeth and then Saturday it rained all day solid so it was another day for watching the Olympics.
So we were all really pleased to get off the ship on Sunday. We had been invited to go to a Danish church just outside Copenhagen and then spend the day with a family who are big supporters of OM.
When we got to the church, we found that they had very strong links with OM over many years and Steve met up with a few people he had served on OM with in the past. They included a British girl who has lived in Denmark for the past 18 years but who used to work alongside Steve in STL many years ago. She has 2 kids and we hope to meet up with them another time.

The church was very enjoyable - the kids had their own programme and Liam even joined a Sunday school class where they all spoke English for him. We got translation throughout and really enjoyed the service. It's funny how you can sing songs that you think you know well in English but then when they are being sung in a foreign language, you just can't remember the words.
We then went to lunch at the home of a family where the father had been on OM 25 years ago and was the translator for George Verwer when he spoke onboard a few weeks ago at the 50th anniversary event(see earlier blog). We were treated to a lovely day and the kids really enjoyed themselves playing with their older children.

It was so refreshing just to spend a day in a normal home. The Danes appear to be a very hospitable and welcoming people.

This coming Saturday we are going to spend the day with a couple that we hosted at the same 50th Anniversary event.
Today, Monday, the whole ship's company has spent a day in prayer and fasting as we look to God for breakthroughs in a number of areas that we need in order to be able to sail.
We hope and pray that we will see things happen quickly in the coming weeks.
