On Weds night we sailed from St Vincent for the short overnight voyage to Grenada.
We woke on Thursday to the sight of another beautiful island rising out of the sea with mountains and golden beaches.
This is the view from our porthole here, which is stunning.
Friday morning we had our official opening and I was asked to be the MC with the Prime Minister as guest of honour. It went really well with lots of TV and radio media there.
Carnival is the biggest event of the year in the Caribbean islands. Although many of them started out with Christian input, they have become an excuse for drinking and evil behavior. The churches here all have nothing to do with them.
In Grenada, the carnival was at the start of this week and the local churches prayed that God would dampen it down. So on Tuesday there was rain, thunder and lightning and everything quickly came to a halt. The big carnival parade was rescheduled to Saturday. As a result, the ship was not very busy yesterday but it rained in the evening and dampened the spirits of those out in the streets.
Today, Sunday, we all went as a family to our first Caribbean church. We were invited by the pastors wife who had met Heather at the official opening. Although we had not intended to take part in the service, because a ship team were already going, we ended up being involved when one of the team pulled out.
The kids helped with a presentation regarding the needs of unreached people and I gave a testimony and book push.
Afterwards we enjoyed a great Caribbean lunch at the pastors house and the rest of the afternoon relaxing there.
