Denmark - 1 year on, 4th Country

Every drydock for an OM Ship is marked by a photograph with everyone down in the dock. This year was no different so on Saturday morning, all those onboard went down under the ship and had their picture taken. (can you find me?)

Saturday was mid-summer which is a big celebration in Sweden. "Bigger than Christmas" for the Swedes apparently. So after work on Saturday, a group of us went out on bikes to see the mid-summer festival on the other side of town. It turned out to be a fairly tacky collection of cheap market stalls and fairground attractions. Not what any of us expected but at least we got to see something of Swedish culture before we left. Afterwards, we enjoyed a cycle around the town seeing some of the sights. It was good to get some perspective of Landskrona before we left.

On Sunday, the Logos Hope left Landskrona in Sweden and made the short voyage across to Denmark and the small town of Koge, 45 km south.
All those who were unable to sail with the ship travelled in 3 buses across the bridge that divides Sweden and Denmark and one bus load of us headed into Copenhagen to see the city for the afternoon.

A group of us went on a walking tour of the city which started off by dodging the rain in McDonalds. But when the rain stopped and the sun came out, it is a beautiful city with lots of things to see. As many people have said before, the little mermaid, which is world famous in Copenhagen, is not very impressive, but there are plenty of other interesting sites.

They actually have a theme park, Tivoli World, right in the middle of the city. But it is quite expensive and there aren't many exciting rides so we gave it a miss.

After a fun afternoon in the city, we jumped on a train and headed to Koge, which is going to be our home for the next couple of months. As we pulled into the station, we looked out the window and could see the ship dominating the skyline of the town. They had just arrived and were still tying up.
On Sunday evening, Heather and the kids flew out of Edinburgh to Bremen and spent the night in Germany, in the flat of the captain who had just sailed Logos Hope across to Denmark!
The next day, Heather, Liam and Kara drove up from Bremen to Koge, including a ferry journey and it was very exciting when the arrived about 4.30. A week has seemed like a long time.

So now we are settling in to the little town of Koge. We are likely to be here for a few months so we will get to know this place very well.

On Friday, I fly from Copenhagen to Gatwick and will stay with my auntie overnight before flying out to Trinidad on Saturday. It has rained there all week, so I hope it drys up soon as it is having a big impact on the number of visitors to the ship.
Over the next few weeks, Heather and I hope to give you both of our perspectives of life on either side of the Atlantic.
