For many months we have been anticipating the day in September when we will sail into Edinburgh onboard the Logos Hope at the start of a UK tour.
However, last week, the decision was taken that we will not be coming to Edinburgh this year after all. The UK office of the organisation that runs the Logos Hope, OM, asked us to delay our arrival in the UK by a few months to ensure that the ship actually arrives on schedule.
As the work here in Germany has continued and the drydock was pushed back by 6 weeks, it has become increasingly difficult to guarantee that we will actually be able to get to the UK in September.
So we are now looking for an alternative schedule that will keep us in Northern Europe until the end of the year and then visit the UK ports. Possible places for us to visit include the Faroe Islands, Iceland and Ireland.
So we now anticipate that we will not arrive in Edinburgh until February or March.
While this is a disappointment in many ways, it does mean that when the ship does arrive, it will be much more complete, as we have always planned to sail from Denmark as soon as we have our Passenger Ship Safety Certificate without having finished work on much of the ship.
On a more positive note, the work on board is progressing at a good pace and we hope to be able to announce news of a significant gift to the work soon.
I'll post some pictures of some of the main areas where work has been completed in the next couple of days.
